There’s a quiet kind of euphoria that lives inside Tusks’ “Gold.” It’s the moment when tension lifts and the world seems to expand around you, when the sound itself becomes motion.
Built from warm analog synths and cascading layers of texture, “Gold” shimmers with depth and restraint. Tusks, the London-based artist and producer Emily Underhill, crafts a sound that feels alive—glowing, pulsing, constantly unfolding. The track evolves like light through fog, moving from lo-fi intimacy into widescreen clarity, a sonic journey that feels both grounded and ethereal.
At its core, “Gold” is about contrast. The early sections carry a hazy, nostalgic tone, shaped by tape-saturated textures and vintage gear. As it builds, shimmering chords from the Prophet 5 and soaring leads from the UDO Super 6 open up the mix, lifted by the distinctive feedback and echoes of the 501 Space Echo. Each layer finds its place, building toward a finale that feels luminous and expansive.
Working alongside producer Tom M. Andrews and drummer Oliver Andrews at SS2 Recording, Tusks brought a cinematic precision to the mix. The SSL Fusion hardware brought the sound into sharp focus, balancing its analog heart with high-fidelity detail. It’s dark pop with a pulse—a sound designed to move with you, whether you’re driving into the night or walking beneath city lights.
Released via One Little Independent Records, Gold stands as Tusks’ most immersive work yet. It’s music for open spaces and introspective moments, made for listeners who chase feeling as much as rhythm.
